This explains the meaning and structure of Engagement Rate, a metric for evaluating the in-store customer experience.
Engagement Rate is a metric showing "the percentage (%) of visitors who stayed in the store for a set amount of time or longer." Synonymous with engage rate.
Engagement Rate is made up of two KPIs:
The number of customers who visited the store (= Traffic)
The number of customers who stayed in the store for a set amount of time or longer (= Engaged Visitors)
Since Engagement Rate represents "the percentage of visitors who stayed a set amount of time or longer," it's expressed as a ratio.
Formula: Engagement Rate (%) = Engaged Visitors ÷ Traffic × 100
To calculate Engagement Rate, you need to decide in advance how long a customer needs to stay to count as "engaged."
Our default setting is 7 minutes, but since this varies by store size, please feel free to let us know if you'd like it changed.
Engagement Rate is a metric showing how many customers feel connected to and actively engage with your store.
Measure data across multiple stores and adjust the evaluation period as needed.
